Teaching Philosophy

I have a passion for the arts and believe anyone can participate, learn and create.

My goal for students is to appreciate art, to understand that art is a form of communication in a visual format, that each person is able to create a work of art and to build confidence in their understanding of media. Creating an art piece is more than creating something beautiful it is creating connections between the artist, their visual language, application of media, personal life and community. I encourage collaboration, personal processing and critical thinking. Teaching these skills, students approach art making with a positive attitude, knowing that they have the confidence, abilities, and skills to exceed expectations.
